ENVIRONMENT
| Various activities are developed to enable environmentally-friendly, sustainable and socially responsible cultivation: |
Recirculation of the water given to plants; |
Insect screens in the vents of the greenhouses to keep harmful insects out; |
Use of as many natural enemies as possible (predatory mites against thrips, ichneumon flies against aphids); |
The greenhouse is heated with residual heat from the Rotterdam power station. |
| |
| Care for the environment is guaranteed by the following certificates: |
MILIEUKEUR (Our plants meet the strict environmental requirements specified by this Dutch foundation) |
MPS-A (“A” is the highest category) |
MPS-GAP (“GAP” stands for Good Agricultural Practice) |
MPS Socially Qualified (the social aspects of business operations are in accordance with European laws and regulations) |
FFP (Fair Flowers Fair Plants) Sustainably cultivated flowers and plants. Supported by the European Union |

| What does the MPS certification mean? |
The MPS qualification is calculated by an environmental indicator that shows the effect of a pesticide on people and the environment in a certain location. |
In order to obtain MPS certification, it is important for a grower to use as little pesticide as possible and to ensure the choice of pesticides used is as environmentally friendly as possible. |
The MPS-GAP guidelines have been drawn up by the most important European retail outlets (such as supermarkets and garden centres) with the aim of supplying a good quality product that is safe, environmentally conscious and socially accepted. |
We were granted MPS-GAP and MPS Socially Qualified certification in January 2004. |
